To pass the time we counted yellow cars and motorcylces. We even made up our own song: ___ yellow cars.___ motorcycles in the White Mountains of New Hampshire not the Green ones of Vermont. If someone tried to count something that wasn't a part of the game someone would say "That doesn't count" and then that person would say "Dagnabit" and Mena would say "Dang Rabbit". Not a bad way to pass the time I say.
This is a photo of the 100th and last motorcycle we saw. It was just about 20 minutes away from our destination.

While in Norway, ME we had sketchy cell phone service, no land line and no internet and yet we survived. It was actually good for us to disconnect from the outside world and connect with each. We were canoeing, playing at the beach, swimming, running around the fitness trail, eating s'more and just hanging out and wait for the loons.

I'm hoping that we created some lasting memories for the kids and maybe even a tradition or two.

1 Enlightened thoughts:
Are the White Mountains anything like the Black Hills? [despite their perhaps symbolically opposite names?] I'm intrigued.
