Renovation and restoration

Renovation. Restoration. Progress. Regression. Fits. Starts. Plateaus.

Our family home on Separatist Rd suffered considerable damage from a fire 16 years ago. The journey to where we are now has been long. Many said it would be easier just to know it down and build a new structure. Bob would not hear of it.

The hands of many raised the roof. Dug out the basement. Installed windows. Cleaned the Pool.

Nine years ago in preparation for my wedding, there was a significant period of remodeling as my parents installed a new kitchen. Since then there have been smaller, less marked improvements . . . central vacuum.

Often there was no money. Or when there was money there was no time. Priorities shifted.

Right now a lot's happening there. At the moment the antique wood floors are being installed in the upstairs of the house. The wood being used to install these floors is wood that my father recovered and saved from the ashes.

It's been in the house, just waiting for its time.

Its time is now.
