Thanks Anne and the Comment challenge

The lovely Anne Rogers sent me a nice message over on Celebrating Bob letting me know that she too hated Crocs. She also commented that it seemed pretty hard to leave a comment.

I'd wondered about the commenting for awhile and since one of the activities in the Comment challenge was to do a Comment Audit (Day 10), I needed to get on top of my blogs barriers to commenting.

It looks like I never changed the default settings for Blogger which require commenters to use a google or blogger account. Many thanks to Sue Waters for her post Are your comment setting making it harder for readers to comment?. From here I was linked over to Clarify Me's Comment Pet Peeve post which showed me how to change my default settings.

Now, commenting will be a much easier affair.

So if you want to comment click on the comments link at the bottom of a post.

Hopefully the changes and the mini tutorial will make it easier for people to comment if they feel so inclined.

That's exactly what kept my mom from commenting before (that time that I commented for her)...

This is how the commenting is set up on my blog, too. You just have to be a little bit on the lookout for spam comments.

Here's to commenting! (Especially when one should be completing her final grades...)

meg,
commenting is good. i know the less obstacles you put up the more likely people will be to do it. problem is you have to know that the obstacles are there. i'm getting better at looking through a different lens and "testing".

Excellent instructions Sarah on how to leave a comment. Glad my post helped you work out what settings you wanted to use by guiding you to Claire post. We both have Claire to thank for inspiring to write that post.

Meanwhile it has been interesting to read the reason why you should moderate comments (check the comments on my post).

Sarah, I'm glad you found my post useful! I think that having 'how to' images, like the ones you've made, make is so much easier for people to see exactly how to comment. Now I'll have to do the same for my Edublogs blog!
